The Merseyside derby took place in the 33rd round of the 2025/26 Premier League season. Liverpool, playing at Hill Dickinson Stadium, scored in the first half thanks to Salah, but conceded a goal in the second half and were tied. However, Dutch star Virgil van Dijk scored in the final moments, and Sloth's team ultimately defeated Everton 2-1.


Six minutes into the match, Everton created an attacking opportunity when James Garner chipped a pass into the penalty area, where Beto headed the ball towards goal, but it was saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Mamadashvili. In the 16th minute, Branswain played a long pass, and Beto's low shot from inside the penalty area went wide.


In the 21st minute, Liverpool attempted a counter-attack. Gakerbo received a pass from Wirtz at the edge of the penalty area and unleashed a long-range shot, but the ball was blocked by an opposing player. In the 22nd minute, Everton goalkeeper Pickford received a yellow card for complaining to the referee.

In stoppage time of the second half, Hrafinbeh delivered a diagonal pass, and Ngumoha unleashed a powerful shot in the penalty area, but the ball went over the goal. Ten minutes later, Szoboszlai took a corner kick, and Van Dijk headed the ball into the net, giving Liverpool a 2-1 lead.


Liverpool ultimately secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Everton away from home.
