According to ESPN's Shams Charania, New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby has been diagnosed with a right hamstring strain.

Although the initial assessment indicates the injury is not serious, Anunoby has been placed on the day-to-day list, and his availability for Game 3 of the series against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday remains highly uncertain.

In the crucial final quarter of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, Anunoby appeared unsteady on his feet after attempting a dunk. With only 2 minutes and 56 seconds remaining and the Knicks leading by 4 points, he signaled to the bench that he couldn't continue and was substituted.

Nevertheless, Anunoby delivered an impressive performance with 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals, helping his team take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Anunoby's potential absence would be a heavy blow to the Knicks. He is currently the team's second-leading scorer after Jalen Brunson, and with astonishing efficiency. Anunoby shoots 64% from the field and nearly 60% from three-point range. As a key player on both ends of the court, his defensive role is equally irreplaceable.

This injury inevitably brings to mind 2024. Back then, Anunoby suffered a hamstring injury in the semifinals against the Indiana Pacers, causing him to miss several games. He forced his way back in Game 7 but only lasted 5 minutes before leaving the court, directly impacting the team's chances of advancing.

Regarding injuries to key rotation players, Knicks forward Mikal Bridges said, "We'll see how things go, but the team always sticks to the principle of having the next person step up."
