The 2026 World Cup will see the Round of 16 matches, and Canada, the "Maple Leaf Army," will travel to NRG Stadium to challenge Morocco. Head coach Jesse Mahi stated in an interview that his team must maximize their strengths against a formidable Moroccan side.

Thanks to a goal from Eustachio, Canada defeated South Africa 1-0 in the round of 32, advancing to the round of 16.

On the Moroccan side, Wahibi's team eliminated the formidable Netherlands 3-2 in a penalty shootout in the round of 32, demonstrating their strong overall strength.

Canada's head coach, Jesse Mashi, said, "This is exactly where we want to be, and this is the stage we want to be on. We know Morocco will challenge everything we do, and this team has almost no weaknesses."

"We must perfect what we do best, and then see if we can withstand the test when facing such opponents."

Speaking about Alphonso Davies, who came off the bench and played a key role in the last match, Jesse Mashi said, "I think he had a great impact on the game, and more importantly, it was clear that South Africa was very wary of his presence."

"So we will seriously consider how to use Alphonso Davies in this game, whether to start him or bring him on as a substitute."

In addition, Morocco coach Ouahbi said in an interview, "Morocco has now earned everyone's respect. This is not something we say ourselves, but something we have proven with our performance. The players know that they have millions of fans supporting them."

“When we played, it was already past midnight in Morocco, but we believe that the vast majority of people were still watching on TV. This will help the team continue to fight and never give up, and always believe in themselves.”
